Fissure Sealants

Fissure sealants are plastic coatings that are placed into the grooves of the back teeth (molars)

Why is it the best treatment option for my child?

The back teeth are refered to as molars. On the surface of the molars are many little grooves. The toothbrush cannot always clean in the grooves and this is where bacteria embeds itself which then in time leads to a cavity. The fissure sealant will seal off the grooves completely so that no bacteria can enter where the toothbrush cannot reach.

When should I bring my child for fissure sealants?

As soon as the full tooth can be seen in the mouth.

We encourage the placement of Fissure sealants in children.

PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE.
